Keep your hands CLEAN!

(Photo from Google Images)

Jao Hand Refresher

As a Makeup artist, one the most important things I need to focus on is sanitation. My hands must be clean and odor-free at all times. I spend a lot of time touching my client's face and it really makes them comfortable if they know your hands are clean.

Jao Hand Refresher, I suppose is the best hand sanitizer there is in the market today. It is a must-have in your kit. Professional MUA's for TV/Film, Fashion, Weddings et al swear by this product. It does not leave any sticky residue like most sanitizers do. Not only it disinfects, it leave you relaxed and smelling incredible with its aromatherapy scent.

Go get yours now! :)

Makeup for Mature Skin

(Photo from Google Images)

Young skin is very much different from mature skin. The skin show wrinkles and lines. Mature skin is dry and looser. When doing makeup, what you want to do is to bring the youthfulness back to the skin. It should be hydrated and fresh looking. The makeup should look thin and light. You do not want to cake your foundation as it would make the lines and wrinkles more visible.

Products I recommend  to my clients:

SKINCARE
For those of you who know me, I spend a lot of time prepping the skin whenever I do makeup on my clients.

Cleanser:
Always cleanse the face before applying anything on it. It get rids of the clogged pores and removes dirt and small pigments of makeup that were left on the skin.
Moisturizer:
When using a toner on a mature skin, make sure you are using a hydrating toner and NOT an alcohol based toner as it will make the skin more dry. REMEMBER: You want to hydrate the skin :)
I personally apply it using: clean fingers or beauty blender  or a really good foundation brush.
Use only if necessary.
As much as possible use a loose powder as it makes a semi dewy finish. Preferably on the T zone only.
Eyeshadow:
Avoid using eyeshadows that are shimmery or glittery. It would make the lines very visible. Use matte eyeshadows only.

Cheeks:
Lipsticks:
Do not use Baby Pink.

LA Fashion Week '09

While in the makeup school I had the chance to work on a real fashion show, not just an ordinary fashion show but LA Fashion Week. It was my first time to work backstage and I loved it! I loved the craziness, the noise and all.

If I remember  correctly, I think I did 3 - 4 girls that night, including performers.

Here are some backstage captures:

Hi Everyone!

Finally I decided to join blogger so I could post and share my adventures as a makeup artist to you.
I will start posting my work from when I started my career as a Beauty and Special FX Makeup artist, that is year 2009. I was born and raised in the Philippines and moved out to Los Angeles in 2009 and decided to attend a makeup school in Hollywood, Cinema Makeup School. I finished the same year and since then have been working as a professional makeup artist for TV/Film here and abroad. Last year I have decided to pursue the other side of makeup which is the beauty and fashion.
